Description
Priority Role Requirement
Importance of the Role
This is viewed as the lead role within the team and potentially the single most important position in the programme today.
The expectation is not that this individual builds the future operating model from scratch. Instead, the priority is bringing in someone with deep end-to-end Fund Accounting expertise who can provide the accounting knowledge required to ensure the platform, processes and data model are designed correctly.
The programme can determine the future operating model over time. What it needs immediately is genuine Fund Accounting credibility and expertise.
XP Required
The ideal candidate should have:
- 10+ years of Fund Accounting XP.
- A snr Portfolio Accountant background.
- XP managing multiple client portfolios.
- Extensive NAV production XP.
- Strong understanding of valuation activities and accounting controls.
- XP dealing with escalations and acting as a snr point of expertise.
- A solid Fund Accounting and Operations background, even if they have more recently moved into migration, change or transformation activities.
The key requirement is someone who genuinely understands every component of the NAV process and how those components interact.
A lack of deep Fund Accounting XP would be a significant concern.
Mindset & Behaviour
Alongside technical expertise, attitude is critical.
The team is looking for someone who is:
- Highly positive.
- Future-focused.
- Naturally improvement-oriented.
- Passionate about technology and automation.
- Constantly asking what can be done better.
- Interested in how technology can solve operational problems.
- Motivated to help develop the organisation in that direction.
The individual should not simply be focused on maintaining current processes, but on identifying opportunities to improve them.
Role in Transformation
While not responsible for defining the operating model, the successful candidate will be expected to help drive the change agenda through their accounting expertise.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
A key objective is to rethink valuation and NAV activities and move them towards a more process-driven and data-driven model.
The individual should be able to:
- Challenge the existing approach.
- Look at NAV and valuation issues through both an accounting and data lens.
- Identify root causes rather than simply resolve symptoms.
- Drive issues further upstream into the accounting process.
- Improve data quality at source.
- Translate accounting knowledge into system rules and controls.
- Help ensure the platform is built in a way that supports future automation.
There is a strong belief that only a genuine Fund Accountant can effectively do this. Understanding fund complexity, valuation methodologies, accounting treatments and NAV production is essential when determining which rules should be embedded within the platform.
The ultimate goal is to build:
- Better processes.
- Better data quality.
- Stronger automation.
- A scalable data model.
- Greater reliance on exception management rather than manual processing.
Current Focus
During the shadow and testing phase, the priority is to:
- Prove the platform.
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.
- Show incremental progress through evidence and results.
- Refine processes as lessons are learned.
- Build confidence in both the technology and the future operating model.
The lead Fund Accounting resource will be central to achieving these objectives.
