The Role

We are looking for a motivated and results-driven Lead Generation Specialist to support the growth of the business by identifying and qualifying new sales opportunities. This role is responsible for proactively engaging with prospective customers, generating high-quality appointments and leads for the sales team, and helping to build a strong pipeline of new business opportunities.

The successful candidate will be confident communicating with decision-makers, resilient in a target-driven environment, and passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences from the very first interaction.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Generation & Prospecting

  • Identify and research prospective business customers across target sectors.
  • Generate new business opportunities through outbound calls, email campaigns, social selling and other prospecting activities.
  • Qualify leads against agreed criteria and assess potential customer needs.
  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Secure appointments and introductions for Business Development Managers and Account Managers.

Customer Engagement

  • Act as the first point of contact for prospective customers.
  • Build rapport with key decision-makers and influencers.
  • Clearly communicate the value proposition of Independent Utility Advice's services.
  • Gather relevant information to support effective sales conversations.
  • Ensure a professional and positive customer experience throughout the qualification process.

CRM & Data Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the CRM system.
  • Track all prospecting activities, lead status and outcomes.
  • Ensure data quality and compliance with company procedures and GDPR requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve prospecting data and targeting.

Campaign Support

  • Support marketing and sales campaigns by following up inbound enquiries and marketing-generated leads.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to provide feedback on lead quality and campaign effectiveness.
  • Contribute ideas for improving lead generation activity and conversion rates.
  • Assist with promotional activities, events and customer engagement initiatives where required.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Achieve agreed KPIs relating to activity levels, appointments, qualified leads and conversion rates.
  • Monitor personal performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitor activity and industry developments.
  • Share best practices and contribute positively to team success.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in a lead generation, telesales, business development or sales support role.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence speaking with business owners, directors and decision-makers.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work towards targets and performance metrics.
  • Resilient, self-motivated and proactive approach to work.

Desirable

  • Experience within utilities, energy, telecommunications or business services.
  • Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of B2B sales processes and lead qualification techniques.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced sales environment.
