About This Job
The Global Market Access & Pricing (GMAx&P) Lead, Oncology (A2138), is responsible for developing and driving the global market access, pricing, and value strategy for A2138, one of Astellas' high-priority oncology pipeline assets. A2138 is an investigational, potentially first-in-class CLDN18.2 × CD3 bispecific T-cell engager being developed for gastric and gastroesophageal junction (GC/GEJ) cancers, with the potential to transform outcomes for patients with significant unmet need.
The GMAx&P lead is accountable for defining and driving the global access and pricing strategy across the asset lifecycle, from late-stage development through launch and lifecycle management, ensuring a compelling payer value proposition and broad, sustainable patient access worldwide.
As the strategic market access partner to the Asset Maximization Team (AMT), Global Co-creation Team (GCT), affiliates, and cross-functional stakeholders, they lead market access and pricing strategy development, alignment, implementation, and evidence planning to maximize asset value and support the achievement of global brand objectives.
Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Market Access and Pricing Brand Strategy
- Develop and drive execution of the Global Market Access and Pricing Brand Strategy through leadership of a multi-disciplinary Value Access Strategy Team (VAST) in co-creation of a best-in-industry value position strategy which optimizes product payer leverage points through tailored and where needed innovative payer solutions.
- Represent Global Market Access & VAST perspective on payer needs as a core member of the Asset Maximization Team (AMT) and Global Co-creation Team (GCT) and impact Commercialisation and evidence generation strategy in alignment with AMT co-leads to optimise brand value under consideration of reimbursement & pricing requirements and dynamics
- Lead the development and implementation of innovative pricing and reimbursement strategies using value-based methodologies that both capture optimal product value and support commercial strategy/product positioning for new indications
- Generate payer insights and assess market dynamics to shape and inform market access and pricing strategies which supports the achievement of the Global BSC
- Deep understanding of all key global payer healthcare systems and HTAs

Global Payer Value Proposition
- Develop the global value story and global value dossier based on insights collated, identify areas needing Medical Affairs (MA), Value Evidence (VE), Clinical Development, and Statistics input and seek analyses and evidence generation accordingly
Evidence Generation Strategies
- Define the payer value requirements for the evidence generation plan throughout the lifecycle of the product, identify areas needing MA & VE input and execution in evidence generation plans and establish alignment with critical functions such as Regulatory, Clinical Development, Stats team, and the co-creation and sub co-creation Markets and gain endorsement by senior leadership
Leading within a Matrix Organization
- Driving horizontal, vertical, and virtual collaboration, sharing best practice across the business and affiliates to sustainably grow Brand MAx effectiveness
- Developing relationships to gain valuable insights into local access dynamics and considerations, with an emphasis on all co-creation markets and others within scope
- Work collaboratively with MA/VE and Commercial and Development Leads at Global, Area, and Affiliate level to deliver the integrated Evidence Generation Plan (iEGP), Brand Market Access Strategic Plan, ensuring it is embedded within the integrated Global Brand Plan (iGBP), Core Medical Plans, and Global & regional development plans, and that customer-relevant Global Brand Value Plans are developed and delivered.
- Lead the Value Access Strategy Team (VAST) and represent GMAx and VAST on the Asset Maximization Team (AMT) and Global Co-creation team (GCT)
- Directly lead relationships with all co-creation and in scope affiliate Market Access teams
- Actively identify areas of collaboration and ways in which market access can work effectively with VE and other key cross-functional partners
- Conduct all Market Access activities in compliance with regulatory agencies, public policies and guidelines, and with corporate policies and procedures.
- Other such duties as may be reasonably required by the business.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Prior global experience in a global pharmaceutical company
- Minimum of 8 years of pharmaceutical business experience which may include:
- Health Outcomes, Access and pricing, marketing, finance, or related experience
- Market Access, Reimbursement, or HEOR experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a proven track record of strategy development and execution.
- Deep knowledge / scientific background on the assigned products/TA.
- Experience working in a global Market Access role in lung cancer strongly preferred

Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification such as MBA and/or MSc or equivalent is highly desirable
- Other languages a plus, ideally of key markets
- Experience in working effectively across diverse cultures with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and convey technical information, including complex policy and reimbursement information in business-relevant language to diverse audiences.
