Exciting Opportunity for a GP in Rural West Cumbria
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a GP to join a forward-thinking Practice in rural West Cumbria, in a Salaried or Lead GP capacity. The practice is ideally looking for a full-time / 9 session GP (4 days), though can be flexible on the days of work.
About the Practice
- Training Practice: The practice is a hub and spoke Training Practice and will occasionally have Trainees onsite, though would ideally like an incoming GP to be willing to become a Trainer.
- Diverse MDT: The practice employs a diverse MDT including an ANP, Paramedic, and Practice Nurses.
- Reasonable Workload: The workload is kept as reasonable as possible with 15-minute appointments, seeing 30 patients per day.
Role Details
Lead GP Role
- Sessional Rate: Over £13,000 per session.
- Incentives: Possible joining bonus on top of the sessional rate.
- Alternative Schedule: 9 sessions over 4 days, meaning a salary of over £117,000 for 4 days.
Salary and Benefits
- Base Salary: £10,400 – £13,100+ per session.
- Additional Benefits:
- Indemnity insurance paid.
- NHS Pension.
- 6 weeks annual leave.
- 1 week study leave.
Practice Location
- West Cumbria: Commutable from Whitehaven, Egremont, Millom, etc.

Your Role
- Sessions: Up to 9 sessions per week – Flexible on days.
- Appointments: 15-minute face-to-face appointments.
- Patient Load: 30 patients per day.
- Admin: Minimal admin thanks to an efficient admin team.
- Role Progression: Salaried GP role initially but open to Lead GP role in future.
- Core Responsibilities:
- To be a caring GP.
- Enjoy working as part of a multi-skilled team.
- Below average number of home visits.
The Benefits
- Salaried GP: Between £10,400 – £13,100 per session depending on experience.

Requirements
- Qualifications: Must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
