About The Green Roof Company
The Green Roof Company is a growing specialist supplier of high-quality green roof systems to homeowners, builders, developers, roofing contractors, and commercial customers throughout the UK.
As demand for sustainable roofing continues to grow, we are expanding our offer to provide customers with a professional supply and installation service. We are now looking for an experienced roofer to join us as our first Lead Green Roof Installer.
This is not simply another roofing job. It is an opportunity to become a key part of a growing specialist business, develop expertise in green roofing, and help build our installation division from the ground up.
Purpose of the Role
The Lead Green Roof Installer will work closely with the Managing Director to establish and deliver the company's new installation service, initially focused on London, the South East, and South West.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the practical delivery of green roof installations, working independently on suitable projects and leading additional subcontract installers or laborers on larger projects. As the division grows, there is genuine potential for the position to develop into an Installation Manager and ultimately Director role.
Key Responsibilities
- Install a range of extensive green roof systems on residential and commercial projects.
- Assess roofs and sites before installation where required.
- Check that roofs, waterproofing, and access arrangements are suitable before work begins.
- Plan the practical installation and sequencing of each project.
- Liaise professionally with homeowners, builders, developers, roofing contractors, and other site personnel.
- Lead and supervise subcontract installers and laborers on larger projects.
- Ensure installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standard.
- Follow appropriate working-at-height, site safety, and company procedures.
- Identify potential site or installation issues and communicate these before work proceeds.
- Photograph and document completed installations for quality-control and project records.
- Undertake green roof inspections and maintenance visits.
- Help develop and improve installation methods, procedures, and quality standards.
- Support the wider development of the installation division as the business grows.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is excellent with customers, and wants the opportunity to help build something, rather than simply join another roofing crew.
What We Offer
- Salary of £32,000-£35,000 depending on experience.
- Business travel and agreed expenses paid.
- Specialist green-roof product and installation training.
- Potential performance-related bonus as the installation division develops.
- Genuine progression opportunity toward Installation Manager.
- Varied residential and commercial projects.
- The opportunity to join a growing specialist sustainable-construction business at an important stage in its development.

The role is home-based and ideally suited to someone living in London, the Home Counties, or along the M4 corridor, providing strong access to the company's principal installation markets across London, the South East, and South West. Occasional national travel will be required as customer demand dictates.
Future Development
The intention is for the Lead Green Roof Installer to become the core technical resource within the new installation division. As installation volume grows, the role may develop to include wider project management, quality control, supervision, and recruitment of additional installers, and responsibility for helping build a national installation network.
For an exceptional candidate who successfully develops the installation division, there is genuine potential for progression into a senior management/director-level role and the opportunity to participate in a future equity incentive scheme.
