Lead Guidewire Architect
Location: London
Working Arrangement: Hybrid, with flexible working options
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time
Overview
Our client, an international insurer, is seeking a Lead Guidewire Architect to lead end-to-end architecture and design for a major multi-year transformation of core insurance platforms.
You will shape the target architecture, lead architecture and design activity, guide delivery teams and ensure scalable, well-governed solutions across pricing, policy administration and underwriting. The role combines hands-on Guidewire expertise with enterprise architecture leadership, technology governance and executive-level decision support.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead end-to-end programme architecture and design across a complex insurance technology transformation.
- Define technology strategies, reference architectures, roadmaps and architectural patterns aligned with business objectives.
- Lead day-to-day architecture and design activity, including managing an architecture team, chairing design forums and resolving cross-domain issues.
- Provide architecture assurance and governance, ensuring adherence to agreed principles, standards and controls.
- Guide executive-level technology decisions by translating complex architectural issues into clear business and investment considerations.
- Monitor delivery against technology roadmaps and identify emerging architectural, operational and technology risks.
- Promote standardised enterprise architecture tools, documentation and ways of working.
- Build effective relationships across technology, business teams, systems integrators and external delivery partners.

Requirements
- Proven experience leading architecture across large-scale, multi-year transformation programmes, including legacy modernisation and complex migration.
- Strong insurance industry and domain expertise, including experience governing systems integrators and strategic delivery partners.
- Hands-on Guidewire experience, including PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter and Product Model.
- Strong understanding of Guidewire Cloud and upgrade strategies.
- Experience with modern insurance platforms and ecosystem technologies, including Guidewire, Hx and Salesforce.
- Strong knowledge of the end-to-end insurance value chain, including underwriting, pricing, distribution, policy administration, claims, finance and regulatory requirements.
- Experience applying architecture governance, principles, standards and controls while supporting effective delivery.
