Job Title

37.5 hours per week (2.5 days Management and 2.5 days Clinical)

Salary: £49,387 - £56,515 per annum (dependent on experience)

Are you an experienced nurse passionate about women’s health? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Gynaecology and colposcopy Lead Nurse to lead the Gynaecology Outpatient Team at GEH, overseeing outpatient services, cancer pathways, nurse-led clinics, the Early Pregnancy Unit, and the Gynaecology Assessment Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist nursing expertise, ensuring all staff are supported in their practice on day to day and ongoing basis.
  • Use advanced decision making skills to utilise all available resources to deliver nursing care effectively and efficiently in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that Nursing and Clinical Pathways/Guidelines/Protocols are implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure good standards of practice in the department, through participation in effective quality assurance measures such as clinical audit programmes.
  • Manage and effectively support patients through the delivery of difficult news.
  • Take responsibility for the duty rotas for the staff to provide effective and well balanced cover to meet with the requirements of the service and ensure the presence of suitably qualified and experienced nurses and support staff at all times. Develop new ways of working if workload requires this.
  • As part of the lead Colposcopy nurse, you will be expected to work alongside the CSPL, Colposcopy coordinator and lead consultants to develop guidance, SOPS and patient information leaflets. Some of these reports are time sensitive for regional and national parties.
  • As the lead you will be invited to specialist MDT and meetings surrounding the Gynaecology, EPAGU and cancer meetings and Colposcopy.
