Lead HR Consultant (part-time, 3-4 days per week)

£45,000 - £55,000 FTE (pro rata depending on hours)
Hybrid working (Cardiff office base with clients across South Wales and Bristol)

Overview

CoLab HR is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced HR professional to join our team as a part-time Lead HR Consultant.

You’ll work with our fabulous team to support a diverse range of clients across different sectors, providing practical advice across the full range of HR matters, from day-to-day employee queries to complex employment issues. You’ll be confident advising business owners, directors and senior leadership teams, combining strong technical expertise with commercial awareness to help clients navigate challenging situations.

Alongside your client work, you’ll play an important role in developing our internal resources, sharing your knowledge and experience, and supporting the continued development of the wider team.

Duties

  • Provide day-to-day HR advice and support to retained and ad hoc clients across the employee lifecycle, including probation, performance management, absence, investigations, grievances, disciplinaries, redundancies and termination of employment.
  • Lead on complex employment matters, including organisational restructures, TUPE, settlement agreements and other sensitive employee relations issues.
  • Draft employment contracts and other employment agreements tailored to individual clients’ needs. This requires the ability to develop appropriate, legally compliant contractual terms.
  • Build trusted client relationships, advise senior decision makers, identify employment risks and provide clear, practical and commercially appropriate solutions.
  • Attend client meetings on-line and in-person and provide on-site support.
  • Deliver HR projects and training.
  • Develop and maintain CoLab HR’s internal templates, guidance and resources, sharing technical knowledge and helping colleagues build their skills and confidence.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
