Role Description

The Lead HV Commissioning & Protection Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for overseeing commissioning activities and protection schemes for high-voltage power systems and equipment. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Planning and executing electrical tests on HV installations
  • Reviewing protection settings and coordination
  • Validating system performance against design and safety standards
  • Leading and mentoring commissioning engineers
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues
  • Preparing test reports
  • Ensuring compliance with industry codes and client specifications

The engineer collaborates with design, operations, and client teams, provides technical guidance during energization and fault investigations, and continuously improves commissioning procedures and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Electrical Testing and Testing of high-voltage equipment and protection systems.
  • Experience as Commissioning Engineers, including planning, executing, and documenting HV commissioning activities.
  • Capabilities in Troubleshooting and diagnostic analysis of complex electrical protection and control issues.
  • A solid foundation in Electrical Engineering, with specific knowledge of power systems, protection schemes, and HV equipment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency with protection relays, substation automation, and relevant testing tools (e.g., relay test sets, primary and secondary injection equipment).
  • Familiarity with applicable standards and codes (such as IEC, IEEE, or local grid regulations).
  • Strong communication skills, ability to lead remote teams, and readiness to coordinate with clients and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience in high-voltage substation, transmission, or industrial power projects is highly beneficial.
