About the FCA and team

We regulate financial services firms in the UK, to keep financial markets fair, thriving and effective. By joining us, you’ll play a key part in protecting consumers, driving economic growth and shaping the future of financial services in the UK.

SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews the rules by which they operate (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition).

Join our collaborative Incident Response and Exercising Team within the Technology, Resilience and Cyber (TRC) Department. We work closely with industry, regulators and government partners to strengthen the operational resilience of the UK financial services sector, helping to protect consumers, markets and confidence in the technology that underpins financial services.

As part of a supportive and purpose-driven team, you will play a key role in coordinating responses to operational incidents affecting regulated firms, working across the FCA and with external stakeholders. You will also contribute to sector-wide resilience exercises, governance activities and industry forums, while developing insight into emerging technologies, including frontier AI and their impact on operational resilience.

Role responsibilities

  • Lead the FCA's response to operational resilience incidents and cyber-attacks, helping to protect consumers, markets and confidence in the UK financial system
  • Manage effective incident triage, stakeholder engagement and supervisory action, ensuring disruptions are managed swiftly and proportionately
  • Develop effective partnerships across the FCA, regulated firms, and UK authorities to coordinate responses to incidents with significant consumer or market impact
  • Provide strategic advice, reporting and recommendations to senior leadership, influencing decision-making during high-profile resilience events
  • Lead, coach and develop team members, creating an inclusive and collaborative environment where colleagues can thrive
  • Act as a trusted expert in incident management, cyber resilience and operational disruption, supporting and empowering colleagues across the FCA
  • Analyse incidents and technology disruptions to identify trends, share lessons learned and strengthen resilience across the financial services sector
  • Shape the FCA's approach to emerging risks, including frontier AI, through industry engagement, resilience exercises and specialist thought leadership

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
