- Provide technical leadership and direction to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Define and promote coding standards, development practices, design principles, and engineering best practices.
- Conduct and lead code reviews, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and fit for purpose.

- Develop and integrate distributed services using APIs, messaging platforms, and event-driven architectures.
- Ensure applications meet required security, performance, reliability, and maintainability standards.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions across development and production environments.
- Remain hands-on with development while providing technical leadership to the wider team.
Architecture & Design
- Take a leading role in system architecture, technical design, and solution planning.
- Translate complex business and technical requirements into scalable and robust technical solutions.
- Drive the adoption of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and modern engineering practices.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
