Lead Java Software Engineer
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Java Software Engineer to lead the transformation of critical Capital Markets platforms supporting Product Control and Volcker reporting within the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division.
This role is accountable for defining and executing a multi-year transformation strategy to modernize and stabilize the Product Controller platform, enabling scalability, improved risk transparency, and alignment with the Markets Division’s growth objectives. The platform requires significant enhancement to meet current and future business needs, presenting a unique opportunity to drive large-scale architectural and operational change.
The successful candidate will combine deep capital markets expertise with strong engineering leadership and will be responsible for delivering high-impact business outcomes through technology innovation and disciplined execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
- Contribute to large scale planning of strategies
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
- Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
- Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients' needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
- Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff

Required Qualifications
- Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Java experience
- SQL experience
Desired Qualifications
- Agile experience
- Knowledge of Jira and Confluence
- Familiarity with the financial industry (knowledge of over-the-counter derivative products a plus)
