Lead Laser Applications Engineer
I am partnering with a client, who is looking for a Lead Laser Applications Engineer. As a Lead Laser Applications Engineer, you will lead the development and delivery of laser-based manufacturing processes for customer and R&D projects.
This is an onsite position, with occasional travel for customer meetings or site visits.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and prioritise R&D and customer application projects
- Manage project schedules, resources, and progress, reporting to management
- Translate customer requirements into effective laser processing solutions
- Develop and optimise laser and optical processes for materials processing
- Analyse results and produce technical reports and documentation
- Provide technical support to the sales team, and participate in customer presentations
- Work with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to optimise machine designs
- Commission laser processes on customer machines and support acceptance testing
- Lead testing, validation, and resolution of technical issues
- Ensure processes meet relevant quality and industry standards

Experience Required
- Degree or extensive experience in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 7 years' engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership position
- Proven experience designing, developing, or implementing lasers and optical systems
- Strong knowledge of laser materials processing
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience leading technical teams and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong reporting and technical documentation capabilities
- Ability to identify and implement improvements to process efficiency

Desirable
- Master's degree or PhD, in Physics/Material Science, or related field
- Knowledge of the electronics and/or photovoltaic industries
- Chinese language skills
- Experience working directly with customers on technical development
