Transform Lives Through Living Donation
Are you an experienced and passionate transplant nurse ready to take the lead in our Living Donor programme? This is an exciting opportunity to join the Oxford Transplant Centre as our Lead Living Donor Nurse Specialist, playing a pivotal role in supporting and guiding living kidney and uterus donors through their transplant journey.
You will coordinate and manage the assessment, work-up, and care of individuals considering living donation. You will become a trusted advocate for donors and their families, providing expert clinical support while addressing the psychological, emotional, and social aspects of donation. Working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will help ensure that every donor receives compassionate, safe, and personalised care from initial referral through to long-term follow-up.
This dynamic role offers the opportunity to influence and shape a growing and developing service. You will provide professional leadership, drive service improvements, support innovation, and contribute to the ongoing development of nursing practice within transplantation. Working closely with the Lead Living Donor Transplant Consultant and wider transplant team, you will ensure the highest standards of care are delivered to our donors throughout their inpatient and outpatient journey.

Role Responsibilities
The Lead Living Donor Nurse Specialist role is to lead on the coordination and management of patients within the Oxford Transplant Centre that are undergoing assessment and work up for a living kidney or uterus donation. They will also work closely with the MDT during the patient’s inpatient stay and overseeing their follow up post-transplant. The role involves conducting patient consultations, addressing clinical, psychological and social needs under the supervision of the Lead Living Donor Transplant Consultant. The post holder also works within the wider Transplant Specialist Nurse team providing on call transplant recipient coordination 8am-8pm and at weekends (occasionally 24 hours). In periods of operational pressure, the postholder will be expected to provide cross-cover locally within the Transplant specialist nursing team and wider Directorate as required.
The post holder will provide excellent professional and clinical leadership within Living Donor transplant promoting the effective delivery of a high standard of nursing care for all living donor patients and contributing to the development of the service, practice and colleagues.
