THE ROLE – Lead Manufacturing Engineer (Composites)
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stand-out aerospace engineering business as a Lead Manufacturing Engineer in the development of aerospace components of a composite nature.
As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be in a practical leadership role. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver technical Manufacturing Engineering work content directly, while also managing the team of Manufacturing Engineers under them.
You’ll need to be able to demonstrate key experience composite materials, with experience in carbon composites being highly desirable.
DUTIES – Lead Manufacturing Engineer (Composites)
- Lead the plant ME and Tooling teams.
- Own the Manufacturing Engineering delivery plan for the plant.
- Deliver hands-on Manufacturing Engineering work content as part of the role.
- Support BD with quotations, including process assumptions, tooling requirements, and costings.
- Create routings and BoMs for production and tooling activities.
- Create full Methods of Manufacture (MoMs).
- Develop and implement quality control procedures.
- Deliver APQP process on NPI where required, including process flow, PFMEA, control plan, and PPAP / Fair.
- Own local manufacturing readiness for new products and processes.
- Review production data and recommend improvements.
- Lead structured problem-solving for manufacturing, tooling, quality, and process issues.
- Develop plant capability through skills matrices.

BACKGROUND – Lead Manufacturing Engineer (Composites)
- ME experience in a production, NPI, or industrialization environment.
- Evidenced leadership and management experience.
- Practical knowledge of composite manufacture and processes.
- Strong understanding of composite materials and their behavior.
- Strong understanding of core manufacturing process areas.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing.
- Ability to plan workload, set objectives, and manage priorities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving scale-up environment.
