Lead Mechanical Engineer – Reliability & Asset Integrity
Location: International opportunity (full relocation support)
Salary: Market leading, plus a comprehensive package
Reporting to: Engineering & Maintenance Manager
Working pattern: Full time, site-based, days

The opportunity
Our client is delivering a major engineering transformation programme on a critical infrastructure asset. You'll join a small, resident team of senior engineers as the mechanical lead, lifting plant reliability, availability, and engineering standards.
This is an implementation role, not an execution role. You won't be the one carrying out the work. You'll guide the local mechanical team: setting the standards, coaching them through fault-finding and planning, and making sure the improvements are delivered and stick.

What you'll be doing
- Provide technical leadership across large reciprocating engines, turbochargers, fuel, lube, cooling and compressed-air systems, pumps, and balance of plant
- Guide the team through troubleshooting complex start-up and running problems, going after root causes, not symptoms
- Implement ISO 55001-aligned asset management and RCM/FMEA-based maintenance strategies
- Strengthen outage and overhaul planning, QA, and return-to-service, working with OEMs
- Drive integrity management for pressure systems, piping, and rotating equipment
- Coach local engineers and technicians and set meaningful reliability KPIs
What you'll bring
- Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; CEng/IEng preferred
- Strong experience with major rotating and reciprocating plant – energy, utilities, oil & gas, marine, or heavy process
- Reliability experience: RCM, FMEA, RCA, condition monitoring, and CMMS
- Outage, major overhaul, and OEM-led maintenance experience
- Large multi-fuel reciprocating engine experience (highly desirable)
