Job Description Summary

As a Lead Mechanical Steampath Design Engineer (m/w/d) within our Steam Power Services ITR Engineering organization at GE Vernova, you will take technical ownership for the design of mechanical steampath components for steam turbines using reaction and impulse blading technology. In this role, you will design and assess steam turbine blades and mechanical steampath components, including record searches, configuration assessments, and reviews of technical design documentation for replacement-in-kind, service, and retrofit projects. As part of a global team, you will contribute with your expertise to help deliver reliable, efficient, and sustainable power to customers worldwide.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Apply sound engineering principles and relevant standards to design and analyze steam turbine blades and components across a wide range of applications, from small industrial units to large nuclear steam turbines.
  • Understand the configuration and operating history of steam turbine units in service through record searches and data analysis.
  • Perform complex checks on blade assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Adapt and optimize legacy designs to improve manufacturability, incorporate modern materials, and enhance reliability.
  • Develop, capture, and maintain best working practices in collaboration with senior engineers, subject matter experts, and global engineering teams.
  • Create and review technical documentation for the manufacturing of steam turbine blades for replacement-in-kind and upgrade/retrofit projects, applying the latest state-of-the-art manufacturing processes.
  • Provide manufacturing support and contribute to root cause analysis of component and system failures, particularly for turbine blades, including the definition and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to early-career engineers, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration.
  • Communicate effectively within the engineering community and with project management, sourcing, and suppliers to support project and business objectives.
  • Undertake occasional international travel to other engineering sites and suppliers, as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
