Lead MLOps Engineer | Contract | 6 Months | London Hybrid (1-2 days per fortnight) | £600-650/day Outside IR35
I'm supporting a business looking to appoint a Lead MLOps Engineer to help shape and mature their machine learning capability.
This role sits at the intersection of Data Science, Platform Engineering, and Software Engineering, with a focus on establishing scalable, production-ready approaches for deploying and operating machine learning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define best practices for deploying, monitoring, and managing machine learning models in production
- Design and improve CI/CD processes for ML and AI solutions
- Build reusable frameworks, tooling, and deployment patterns to support ML teams
- Drive consistency across model lifecycle management, governance, and observability
- Work closely with engineering and data teams to ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, and maintainable
- Provide technical leadership on MLOps tooling, architecture, and platform capabilities

Experience Required
- Strong background delivering machine learning solutions into production environments
- Experience designing MLOps frameworks, standards, and deployment pipelines
- Cloud platform expertise across AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Strong Python engineering skills
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
- Knowledge of ML lifecycle tooling, monitoring, and model governance
- Comfortable operating in a lead or principal-level engineering capacity

Desirable
- Experience supporting GenAI or LLM-based workloads
- Exposure to modern ML platforms and workflow orchestration tools
- Infrastructure as Code experience
