Lead Developer - Housing & Asset Management Systems

£350pd
Local Authority - London

We are seeking an experienced Lead Developer to take technical ownership of a critical Housing and Asset Management technology estate. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing system environments, configuration control, release processes, integrations, and data governance across a complex enterprise platform.

About the Role

As Lead Developer, you will act as the technical authority across multiple system environments, ensuring platform stability, performance, and security. You will oversee configuration management, deployment activities, integration assurance, and data governance, helping to deliver reliable and effective services to end users.

Working closely with technical teams, suppliers, and stakeholders, you will drive best practice across the software development lifecycle, ensuring robust controls, high-quality releases, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

System Configuration & Environment Management

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise for the configuration and management of housing and asset management systems.
  • Maintain consistency across development, test, training, pre-production, and production environments.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and technical health across all environments.
  • Work with software vendors and technical partners to coordinate upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.

Deployment & Release Management

  • Manage deployment schedules, maintenance activities, and release approvals across multiple teams.
  • Develop and maintain release management processes, including rollback and recovery procedures.
  • Ensure changes are delivered safely and efficiently with minimal service disruption.

Integrations & Quality Assurance

  • Lead the testing, troubleshooting, and validation of system integrations and APIs.
  • Implement quality controls and technical sign-off processes throughout the release lifecycle.
  • Support the continuous improvement of development, testing, and deployment standards.

Data Governance & Security

  • Oversee data migration activities, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to protect sensitive information across all environments.
  • Promote adherence to data governance, security, and compliance requirements.

About You

You will bring a strong background in enterprise application support and development, with experience managing complex technical environments and delivering high-quality system changes. You will have:

  • Significant experience configuring, maintaining, and supporting enterprise business systems.
  • Strong expertise in environment management, release processes, system upgrades, and deployment pipelines.
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting, and assuring third-party integrations and APIs.
  • A sound understanding of data governance, migration assurance, security controls, and best practice.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement, and service excellence.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the stability, security, and ongoing development of a business-critical technology platform while driving high standards of technical delivery across the organisation.
