Lead Network Engineer
London – Hybrid
£75,000
VIQU are partnering with a leading UK media and content organisation seeking a Lead Network Engineer to take technical ownership of their corporate and broadcast networks. This is a highly hands-on role, with around 80% focused on engineering and network design, alongside 20% leadership and mentoring. You’ll lead a small team, support BAU and projects, and act as the technical authority across complex network environments.
Key Responsibilities of the Lead Network Engineer:
- Take technical ownership of corporate and broadcast network infrastructure
- Design and deliver secure, resilient and high-availability networks
- Lead network architecture, standards and technical design
- Manage and troubleshoot multicast, BGP and VXLAN environments
- Act as the escalation point for complex network issues
- Support network delivery for major live events and critical projects
- Lead, coach and mentor a team of three Network Engineers
- Work closely with engineering, cyber security and project teams
- Manage network suppliers and connectivity providers

Key Experience Required of the Lead Network Engineer:
- Strong Senior / Lead Network Engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with multicast, BGP and VXLAN
- Strong Arista and/or Cisco switching experience
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls
- Strong routing, switching and network troubleshooting skills
- Experience designing resilient, high-availability networks
- Previous team leadership, mentoring or technical leadership experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Broadcasting, media or live events experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of SMPTE ST 2110, PTP or NMOS would be advantageous
- Comfortable supporting occasional out-of-hours requirements when needed
