Lead Practice Nurse
Hertfordshire
£24.00 - £28.00 per hour

Are you an experienced Practice Nurse looking to take the next step in your career?
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established GP practice in Hertfordshire seeking a confident and experienced Lead Practice Nurse to join their friendly and supportive team. This is a full-time position, including one late evening clinic each week.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Adult and childhood immunisations
- Travel vaccinations and travel health advice
- Cervical Cytology (Smears)
- Chronic Disease Management
- Asthma, COPD and Diabetes reviews
- Hypertension management
- Wound care and dressings
- Health checks and new patient medicals
- Long-term condition management
- Medication reviews and treatment monitoring
- Family planning support
- Health promotion and patient education
- Phlebotomy
- ECGs
- Treatment room duties

Leadership Responsibilities
- Leading and supporting the nursing team
- Clinical supervision and mentoring
- Managing nursing rotas and clinical cover
- Supporting recruitment, induction and staff development
- Conducting appraisals and competency reviews
- Leading on Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)
- Supporting CQC compliance and clinical governance
- Leading audits and quality improvement projects
- Developing and reviewing clinical policies
- Ensuring clinical standards and best practice are maintained
Requirements
To be considered, you'll need:
- Current NMC Registration
- At least 3 years' experience working as a Practice Nurse within General Practice
- Strong treatment room skills
- Experience managing chronic disease clinics
- Competence in cervical cytology
- Adult and childhood immunisation experience
- Travel vaccination experience
- Excellent communication and organisational skills

Previous Lead Practice Nurse or supervisory experience would be advantageous. Candidates with leadership experience will be considered towards the top end of the advertised pay scale.
Salary & Benefits
- £24.00 - £28.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
