Lead Nurse/ODP for Anaesthetics, Theatres & Critical Care
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled and ambitious Lead Nurse/ODP for Anaesthetics, Theatres & Critical Care to join our team on a 12-month secondment from start date to cover maternity leave.

Role Overview
Working closely with the Heads of Nursing, Care Group Nurse Director and management team, you will provide professional leadership and expert advice across Anaesthetics, Theatres and Critical Care services. You will promote high standards of patient care and experience while supporting the effective use of resources.
As a key member of the Clinical Service Group leadership team, you will contribute to service development, transformation and continuous improvement, including health and social care integration. You will help deliver the Quality Agenda, ensuring services are safe, effective and focused on achieving the best outcomes for patients.
You will champion evidence-based practice, support innovation and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to enhance service delivery. The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader with a passion for developing staff, improving services and delivering excellent patient care.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Nursing/Care Group Nurse Director in workload management, workforce planning and modernisation for the nursing profession.
- Ensure that nurse staffing level meets the requirements of the All Wales Nurse Staffing Act and service specific standards and guidelines.
- Responsible for monitoring effective deployment of the nursing resource to maintain quality and safe patient care using professional judgement and triangulated methodology.
- Deputise for the Head of Nursing/Care Group Nurse Director when required, undertaking any responsibilities, as delegated.
- Upholds corporate governance by exercising prudent financial management of temporary staffing replacement ensuring there are robust systems and processes are in place to authorise the use of temporary staffing replacement.
- Provide professional support to the Clinical Service Group Manager.
- Line management of senior nursing staff within area of jurisdiction.
- Support the Head of Nursing/Care Group Nurse Director in the recruitment of nursing staff and in the plan to retain staff across the scope of responsibility.
- Take a lead in managing employee relations, sickness absence, annual appraisal, critical incidents, revalidation requirements and conduct for staff within area of jurisdiction.
