We are supporting a large, fast-changing organisation operating across the technology and financial services space. Following significant acquisition-led growth, the business is continuing to bring together different parts of the organisation under a more clearly defined group structure, creating greater consistency across its people practices while retaining appropriate flexibility within individual businesses.
As part of this ongoing transformation, they are looking to appoint an experienced Lead People Partner / Senior HR Business Partner on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is a senior, commercially focused role partnering with leaders across the organisation during a period of significant change.
The environment is complex and still developing, so they need someone who is comfortable working through ambiguity, creating clarity and helping senior stakeholders navigate organisational and structural change.
Key duties
- Partner senior leaders through organisational change, integration and operating model development
- Support functions as structures, accountabilities and ways of working continue to evolve
- Help create greater consistency across grading, reward, job architecture, policy and people processes
- Work through legacy structures, differing business practices and stakeholder resistance
- Support leadership teams operating within a regulated and governance-heavy environment
- Translate broader People strategy into practical, commercially relevant activity
- Contribute to improving the overall quality and consistency of People partnering across the organisation
- Provide constructive challenge to senior stakeholders while maintaining strong working relationships
- Balance strategic advice with hands-on delivery to ensure key initiatives continue to move forward

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You will already have operated in a senior HR Business Partner, Lead People Partner or comparable role, partnering with senior leadership teams in a complex organisation. Experience within technology, financial services, another regulated sector or a similarly governance-heavy environment would be highly relevant, particularly where you have worked through acquisition, integration, restructuring, organisational design or operating model change.

You should be confident working with senior stakeholders, able to challenge constructively and have the judgement to adapt your approach depending on the situation. This role will suit someone who can create structure where it does not yet exist, operate effectively without every answer being defined in advance and remain close enough to the detail to drive delivery. A hands-on approach will be important; this is not a purely strategic advisory role.
This is an opportunity to take on a senior People partnering role during an important period of organisational development, with significant exposure to senior leadership and a varied change agenda. London-based hybrid working pattern of two days in the office and the opportunity to make a tangible impact over the 12-month assignment. Immediate or short-notice availability would be advantageous.
