Job Overview
Are you a motivated and forward-thinking registered Pharmacy Technician looking for a unique opportunity? Then join the friendly medicines governance team in BCUHB, in the role of Lead Pharmacy Technician Centralised Homecare and Procurement Services.
You will play a key role in developing the pharmacy service and system in line with our strategic vision to ensure we are able to provide the best care possible to the patients across North Wales. You will be part of the senior pharmacy management team within the Medicines Governance team and will be responsible for reviewing current processes and implementing change where needed to ensure team objectives are achieved in line with our strategic vision.
In this innovative position, you will collaborate with diverse teams on cutting-edge projects involving procurement and homecare systems. The successful candidate will be driven to introduce new technology advancements and processes to optimise and streamline the procurement of medicines and homecare services across BCU, drive efficiency, cut duplication of effort and ensure compliance with healthcare regulators and licensing authorities.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
- Support the streamlining of procurement and homecare related activities to drive efficiency and standardisation across BCUHB and lead on Careflow system management for BCUHB.
- Support in ensuring that off contract claims, pharmacy freedom of information requests and homecare and procurement targets are achieved.
- Be responsible for the professional leadership, development and management (where relevant) of pharmacy technicians and support staff within designated area (East, Central, West or Medicines Governance Team) of the Pharmacy and Medicines Management Division.
- Responsible for stimulating, initiating, and co-ordinating the implementation of audit, practice research and development activity.
- Lead and assist specific projects and areas of work, developing strategies for service improvement that reflect professional and corporate/directorate objectives in conjunction with the Pharmacist Senior Managers.
- Support the Medicines Procurement and Homecare Lead Pharmacists and Medicines Governance Lead Pharmacist in delivery of the Health Board agenda within the Health Board (HB).
- Deputise for the Medicines Procurement and Homecare Lead Pharmacists on a day to day basis.
- Line management of homecare and medicines governance procurement team’s band 6 technicians.
- Be responsible for the service delivery, development, governance and leadership within designated service area.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ/QCF level III in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician
- ILM Management qualification level 4 or equivalent level of management experience
- Registered pharmacy technician
Desirable criteria
- BTEC
- ECDL
- Clinical verification qualification
- CIPS
Experience
Essential criteria
- A substantial level of post qualification experience in pharmacy services.
- Experience of managing pharmacy team(s)
- Experience of using pharmacy ICT systems
Desirable criteria
- Experience in a broad range of pharmacy services
- Experience of dealing with digital systems
