Lead Physicist

Are you ready to lead radiotherapy physics at a centre where innovation, patient care, and clinical excellence come together? Join GenesisCare UK in Maidstone as our Lead Physicist and play a pivotal role in shaping how we deliver advanced radiotherapy treatment for our patients.

About the Role

As our Lead Physicist, you will act as the on-site Medical Physics Expert (MPE), overseeing all radiotherapy physics activity within our Maidstone centre. You will have scientific and technical responsibility for treatment planning, patient dosimetry, quality assurance (QA), calibration of equipment, and ongoing optimization of our radiotherapy service. Working closely with our radiographers, oncologists, and wider clinical teams, your expertise will ensure safe, effective, and exceptional patient care. You’ll also collaborate with regional MPEs across GenesisCare and help drive innovation and service improvements across the UK network.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the site Medical Physics Expert (MPE) and lead all aspects of radiotherapy physics
  • Provide technical oversight of treatment planning and patient dosimetry, performing planning and checking when required
  • Lead calibration and QA of the Linac, imaging equipment, and dosimetry devices, ensuring all activity meets regulatory and GenesisCare standards
  • Review and train clinical staff in machine QA, dosimetry, treatment planning, and checking
  • Support troubleshooting and maintenance, liaising with engineers and assisting with out-of-hours issues where necessary to minimize service disruption
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects across the physics and dosimetry function

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
