The Shared Services Platform team is a horizontal Platform team that builds reusable capabilities for other Kraken teams, rather than owning one customer-facing workflow.
Its Scope Includes
- Authentication and identity, including Support Site SSO and SCIM-based user provisioning.
- Event infrastructure, such as broker-as-a-service, topics, event schemas, integrations, and security/schema guardrails.
- Shared platform patterns and tooling that let teams self-serve, build securely, and avoid solving the same infrastructure problems repeatedly.
🚀 What You’ll Own
- Have ownership of a functional team within Platform Engineering, working closely with the Director and Heads of Platform Engineering to define strategic objectives and team direction
- Own the production stability and reliability of the team’s services, ensuring they are built to scale and operate effectively in production
- Manage team priorities and deliveries
- Collaborate regularly and effectively with Platform Engineers in your functional team to deliver the technical implementation of the team’s strategic priorities, working alongside the Product Manager.
- Lead delivery of major initiatives on clear timelines
- Partner effectively in the wider Platform Engineering team to deliver outcomes
- Build a strong culture of open communication where teammates can ask questions without fear, promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Live the Kraken culture and values, and be a role model for your team
- Line-manage a group of Platform engineers
- Set clear performance expectations and goals for team members
- Regularly review individual and team performance, offering actionable insights and constructive feedback to support and grow team members
- Deliver technical improvements such as small features and bug fixes, as well as larger projects with the team
- Support team delivery through code reviews, technology research and architectural guidance
- Drive and improve the non-functional elements of production systems owned by your team

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
