Lead Cloud Platform Engineer – Banking
London - Hybrid working - 3/4 days onsite
Permanent - £130k - £170k total compensation DOE
We are looking for a hands-on Lead Cloud Platform Engineer to join a major financial services firm within their enterprise cloud team in London.
The role will focus on improving and scaling an established AWS platform, with particular responsibility for reviewing and evolving the existing Landing Zone as AWS adoption grows across the organisation.
This is a technical leadership role rather than a people management position. You’ll remain fully hands-on while taking ownership of complex platform challenges, technical decisions and the longer-term development of the AWS environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
