Robotics Automation Product Manager
You will work closely with strategic customers, scientists, laboratory operators, engineering, applied science, automation vendors, and OCI platform teams to turn real operating workflows into scalable product capabilities. Initially, you will lead product discovery, define the first pilot use cases, establish success measures, and recommend the investment and product plan needed to scale after pilot results are reviewed.
Location: Greater London or Oxford, United Kingdom. The role is hybrid and requires travel to a key customer’s Oxford office as needed for meetings, laboratory work, integration, and pilot support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What You’ll Do
- Define the multi-year vision, product strategy, roadmap, and investment priorities for Robotics Automation.
- Work directly with strategic customers, scientists, laboratory operators, and automation partners to understand workflows, constraints, unmet needs, and opportunities for automation.
- Observe and map manual, partially automated, and automated laboratory workflows to identify the highest-value product opportunities.
- Define and prioritize the first pilot use cases, including customer value, desired outcomes, acceptance criteria, success measures, and operational requirements.
- Define the product model for automated workflows, equipment and robot capabilities, access and approval rules, workflow policies, operational visibility, and exception handling.
- Translate customer and business needs into clear product requirements, user journeys, policies, and engineering priorities.
- Define product requirements for integrating liquid handlers, robot arms, imaging systems, scientific instruments, sensors, ELN/LIMS platforms, workflow tools, and vendor software.
- Partner with the Robotics Platform Engineer to evaluate technical options and make clear trade-offs among customer value, safety, reliability, cost, and delivery time.
- Define requirements for administrator, workflow-monitoring, and troubleshooting experiences in partnership with Shared Experience & Authoring.
- Establish success measures for adoption, workflow completion, operator intervention, reliability, traceability, resource use, cost, and customer value.
- Define requirements for safe execution, human approval, audit history, workflow recovery, experimental data, and operational reporting.
- Build the business case and investment recommendation for future Robotics Automation work using pilot results, customer feedback, market opportunity, technical feasibility, and expected business value.
- Drive the product lifecycle from discovery and prototype through pilot, launch, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate strategy, progress, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Influence across Product, Engineering, Applied Science, Security, Operations, Finance, and customer teams without formal authority.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, Life Sciences, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of product management experience for highly technical products, platforms, cloud services, automation systems, or enterprise software.
- Experience defining product vision, roadmaps, requirements, and success measures for complex customer-facing products.
- Experience working directly with technically demanding customers and translating detailed workflows into scalable product capabilities.
- Strong technical judgment across cloud platforms, distributed systems, workflow orchestration, data platforms, APIs, or industrial automation systems.
- Demonstrated ability to make clear trade-offs among scope, customer value, safety, reliability, cost, and time to market.
- Experience defining and evaluating pilot programs with measurable business and operational outcomes.
- Strong customer, analytical, written, and executive-communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in robotics, laboratory automation, scientific workflow software, industrial automation, or hardware-software products.
- Direct experience working with scientists, laboratory operators, automation engineers, equipment vendors, or physical system integrators.
- Experience taking a complex physical, scientific, or operational workflow from customer discovery through pilot deployment and measurable improvement.
- Experience with laboratory instruments, liquid handlers, robot arms, imaging systems, ELN/LIMS platforms, scientific data, or workflow orchestration.
- Familiarity with regulated laboratory, biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, or other safety-conscious operating environments.
- Experience building product business cases, defining investment gates, and making recommendations for product scale.
