Lead Product Designer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Product Designer based in United Kingdom.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the design vision for a next-generation platform serving highly technical users in cloud, infrastructure, and developer environments. You will own the product design function end-to-end, shaping intuitive experiences for complex workflows while influencing product strategy from the earliest stages. Working closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams, you will transform ambitious ideas into scalable, user-centered solutions. The role offers significant autonomy, allowing you to define design systems, improve collaboration, and integrate AI-powered workflows into the design process. Accountabilities:
- Define and execute the product design strategy while creating intuitive experiences for complex technical platforms.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product decisions balance user needs, technical feasibility, and long-term scalability.
- Own and drive the overall product design vision, aligning user experience with business objectives and product strategy.
- Lead the end-to-end design process for new features, including research, discovery, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, UI design, and iterative improvements.
- Design user experiences for sophisticated technical domains such as platform engineering, infrastructure automation, permissions management, configuration workflows, and lifecycle management.
- Partner closely with product managers, software engineers, and technical specialists to validate solutions and influence product direction.
- Build and maintain a scalable design system that supports consistency, usability, and future product growth.
- Integrate AI-powered tools and workflows to improve design efficiency, documentation, prototyping, and collaboration.
- Work alongside frontend developers to ensure high-quality implementation of designs while contributing practical guidance on usability and interactions.
- Communicate design rationale, priorities, and progress effectively with leadership and key stakeholders.

Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in product design, including leadership or senior ownership of complex digital products.
- Proven experience designing technical platforms such as developer tools, SaaS products, cloud platforms, DevOps solutions, or infrastructure software.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and scale design practices within startup or high-growth environments.
- Strong expertise in UX architecture, interaction design, visual design, and design systems, supported by a portfolio showcasing systems thinking and problem-solving.
- Solid understanding of frontend technologies, including HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript, with the ability to collaborate effectively on implementation decisions.
- Experience influencing product strategy and working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain design decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Pragmatic mindset with a strong focus on simplicity, usability, and scalable product design.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience with developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, DevOps ecosystems, or Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) is highly desirable.
- French language skills are considered an advantage.
