There are NO limits to your career: come shape the future and be part of a truly unique global culture at OutSystems!
About This Role
As a Lead Product Designer at OutSystems, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our low-code platform. You'll take ownership of delivering user-centered design solutions that address complex challenges and empower our customers to create software faster, smarter, and with greater impact.
In this role, you will drive design excellence across the product, ensuring every interaction and interface reflects OutSystems' commitment to quality and innovation. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Research teams, you will transform customer insights into intuitive and engaging product experiences that inspire confidence and drive adoption. Increasingly, "the user" includes AI agents operating alongside humans, you don't need to design for that frontier yourself, but you'll need to recognize it when it shows up in your workflows and know when to loop in the team that does.
As a design lead, you will mentor and guide the designer you work with, fostering collaboration and a shared vision for design excellence. You'll help establish and uphold design standards, align with strategic goals, and ensure OutSystems delivers a product experience that stands out in the low-code market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Design Processes: Take ownership of user and product research, ideation sessions, end-to-end mockup solutions, and user testing, iterating on designs to deliver validated, impactful solutions.
- Advocate for Design Excellence: Champion product design practices across the Product and R&D organization, advocating for user-centric solutions and voicing the needs of our users to shape a better product.
- Collaborate in an Agile Environment: Partner with cross-functional teams to drive the design process from initial ideation through product delivery and launch, ensuring alignment and seamless execution.
- Empathize with Developers: Step into the developers' perspective to identify challenges and craft pragmatic, effective design solutions that integrate seamlessly with the development process.
- Recognize Agent-Touched Workflows: As AI agents take on more of the building and operating work on the platform, identify where a workflow you're designing is still human-only, where it's human-and-agent (co-navigation), and where it's shifting toward agent-led with human oversight, and loop in the AX practice when a workflow crosses that line.
- Design Clear Human Oversight Moments: For features where AI assistance or automation touches the user's task, ensure the human's moments of control, review, and override are simple, trustworthy, and never an afterthought.
- Contribute to Practice Development: Support the evolution of the UX practice, including how it interfaces with the emerging AX (Agentic Experience) discipline, and provide training to empower other teams in adopting design best practices.
- Inspire and Motivate: Bring energy, adaptability, and enthusiasm to the team, introducing innovative ideas and approaches that spark creativity and elevate the product design process.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
