Lead Product Engineer

Newcastle upon Tyne

Hybrid: 3 in person, 2 WFH

You’ll work alongside our Product Managers and Product Designers to decide which customer problems to tackle, lead the technical decisions and build the software with your team.

You’ll stay hands-on across front end, back end and cloud, writing and reviewing production code each week. Bring strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills, experience with frameworks such as React, Next.js or NestJS, and a track record of building and operating applications on AWS or a similar cloud platform.

Hubexo’s software helps construction businesses find projects, share product information, write specifications and manage tenders. You’ll work directly with customers and users, then follow what you build through release and improvement to understand whether it has made a difference.

You’ll report to the Engineering Director and draw on a global team across Architecture, Platform Engineering, QA, AI & Data, and Security.

What you’ll do

  • Shape product decisions with Product and Design. Speak with customers, bring engineers into discovery and challenge assumptions with simpler solutions or experiments.
  • Own the technical direction of your product area while writing and reviewing code. Balance customer value, delivery speed, quality and technical debt.
  • Build secure, scalable and accessible software. Strengthen testing, release automation, observability and recovery, and take part in incident response.
  • Define success measures before building. Use product analytics, feature flags and staged rollouts to understand results and decide what to improve.
  • Coach engineers and help them make sound decisions independently. Use AI coding and agentic tools throughout delivery, setting clear standards for validating their output.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
