The Job in Short
Designed and built for banking, Identity is the security at the centre of the AI-powered Digital Banking platform from Backbase.
We bring together the best technologies, security standards, and fintechs into an integrated platform—responsible for securing the daily digital banking needs of millions of people across the globe.
As a Group / Lead Product Manager for Backbase Identity, you’ll drive the evolution of our Digital Identity platform as a critical element of the Backbase Agentic and Digital Banking offering. You will be a product expert for the capabilities, journeys and technologies that secure our digital banking solution, from biometrics and FIDO2, to the best-in-class fintechs we integrate, across the complete user lifecycle. It is your job to understand the needs of Backbase customers, and manage your set of capabilities through the product lifecycle: from defining new requirements to creating the first prototype, to launching the new features with real customers in production.
You will take ownership of a critical product line within our Digital Identity domain - taking overall strategic accountability for our complex identity portfolio, defining a 12-month roadmap, driving multi-squad execution, and acting as a trusted advisor to senior clients and executives.
You are a customer-obsessed product leader who seamlessly blends strategic vision with deep technical, business, and UX know-how. You bring a startup mentality to scaling enterprise software, maintain a relentless focus on rapid feedback loops, and excel at developing the next generation of PM talent
Meet the Job
- Lead through People: Guide, coach, and mentor Product Managers within your domain. You’ll help them translate higher-level Value Stream strategies into valuable business outcomes, streamline scope, and focus on what not to work on. (For Group level: You will directly hire, build, and manage a high-performing PM team).
- Strategic Roadmap Ownership: Maintain a 12+ month strategic product roadmap, prioritizing high-impact outcomes over pure output and ensuring alignment with company strategy and Value Stream objectives.
- Voice of the Customer & Market: Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and customer champion. Combine direct customer conversations, Customer Success feedback, data analytics, and market research to pressure-test assumptions and validate solutions.
- Architectural & Technical Fluency: Drive complex cross-squad and cross-Value Stream initiatives. You know enough tech and software architecture to collaborate pragmatically with architects, security specialists, and engineering leaders.
- AI-Augmented Product Leadership: Confidently leverage AI to elevate your work, accelerate your PM team’s operational throughput, and enhance our core identity products.
- Be a Product Evangelist: Communicate a compelling product vision across the business. Lead workshops, client kick-offs, pre-sales strategies, and field enablement sessions to demonstrate the power of Backbase Identity.
- Design & Experience Champion: Maintain high UX standards, collaborating closely with design teams so that complex security, biometrics, and authentication flows remain friction-free for real users.
- Execution & Program Management: Apply strong project and stakeholder management skills to steer multi-squad deliveries, navigate organizational boundaries, and keep stakeholders informed throughout the product lifecycle.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
