Lead Programmer

We’re looking for a Lead Programmer to join our award-winning team in Middlesbrough (UK), home to the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and countryside.

As a Lead Programmer at Double Eleven, your primary focus will be leading, mentoring, and guiding a talented programming team on a high-profile project, which is a full art remaster of a much-loved title. While this is a hands-on role where you will contribute directly to systems and game code, your fundamental responsibility is to empower your engineers and ensure the successful delivery of a high-quality game experience.

Working closely alongside the other engineering leads, you will collaborate to set the technical strategy and ensure alignment across the project. As this project involves co-development, you will work seamlessly with our external partners. Furthermore, you will act as the first technical point of contact for the project inside your domain, taking part in regular client meetings and representing your team in critical discussions to ensure our solutions meet and exceed project demands.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
