A Fantastic Opportunity: Lead Project Manager – Manchester Airport
We are recruiting for a Lead Project Manager, based predominantly at Manchester Airport to join our team delivering electrical power projects at distribution voltage levels, 11kV and below. This role is to project manage pre-construction and construction activities (from design to energisation) for large-scale high voltage infrastructure and connections at voltage levels normally from 11kV and below.
Our projects would include feasibility, detailed design, procurement, construction, test and commissioning on existing or new substations and associated infrastructure.
Role Responsibilities
As a Lead Project Manager you will own project accountability for all company Health & Safety processes including; compliance with Construction Design Management (CDM) Construction Phase Plans, Codes of Practice, Safety rules, point of work risk assessments, safety observations, incident reporting and all other related Health & Safety Executive policies.

You will act as point of escalation for the customer, site and office teams for delivery elements of both planning and implementing current and future projects. Accountable for a total portfolio of between £1m to £5m of construction projects including producing all project progress reports of the related site works on a weekly basis.
You will operate across the CML airport operational delivery team as a contract lead, responsible for site resource and subcontractors. Identify and explore contractor, supplier and/or other partnership efficiencies that will help both the short-term project and long-term company profitability.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who meet the following criteria:
- A HNC in Electrical Engineering
- Experience managing large and complex HV substation projects throughout the full project lifecycle from feasibility to energisation.
- A strong understanding of electrical distribution equipment, including an ability to interpret technical documentation relating to the design of electrical substations, civil layouts, cables and overhead lines.
- Trained and experienced as a project manager, coordinating commercial contracts, resources, materials and site activities within given budgets for engineering focused projects
- Excellent understanding of the Health & Safety and CDM requirements for large scale projects.
- Experienced at creating project plans using computer software such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Project etc
- Hold or be committed with support of the company to gaining professional project management accreditation
- Hold a valid, full UK driving licence
