About us

At National Gas, the work we do matters.

As Britain's national gas network, we help keep the lights on, businesses running, and homes warm by maintaining the critical infrastructure that transports gas across Great Britain. While providing the energy security Britain relies on today, we're also helping transform the network for a clean energy future.

Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, highly proactive and enthusiastic Lead Project Manager to drive a varied portfolio of Rotating Machinery and CABS projects from early definition and FEED through detailed design, delivery, commissioning, handover and close-out. This is a visible leadership role for someone who can create momentum, bring people together and turn complex engineering challenges into safe, successful outcomes.

You will work across a wide fleet of Siemens, GE and Solar rotating machinery, together with Siemens electric VSD and Everllence units. Current and emerging projects include a new MOPICO unit, Gas Generator and Power Turbine overhauls, CABS projects and major machinery upgrades.

Why this role matters

Our rotating machinery is central to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the gas transmission network. You will provide end-to-end project leadership, protecting safety, operational reliability, security of supply and investment value while helping a forward-thinking and innovative team modernise and sustain a strategically important fleet.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead designated Rotating Machinery and CABS projects through the complete project lifecycle, from optioneering and FEED to construction, commissioning, handover and closure.
  • Own delivery against agreed scope, programme, cost, quality, safety, environmental, functional and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop clear delivery strategies for compressor, gas turbine, power turbine, electric-drive and associated CABS investments.
  • Build and lead effective multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating engineering, operations, asset management, construction, procurement, commercial and supplier interfaces.
  • Provide visible leadership, clear priorities and disciplined governance, ensuring risks, assumptions, dependencies, decisions and changes are actively managed.
  • Manage design and delivery partners, OEMs and specialist suppliers, strengthening relationships while driving accountability, value and timely decisions.
  • Lead project controls including cost management, forecasting, schedule management, reporting and change control.
  • Ensure construction and commissioning risks are identified, assessed and reduced throughout delivery, with robust readiness and handover arrangements.
  • Represent the Senior Rotating Machinery Manager as required and provide accurate, concise and timely reporting and forecasting to senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation and standardisation across the Rotating Machinery project portfolio.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
