About the Role
As a Lead Python Developer, your role will blend technical leadership and software engineering, giving you the opportunity to guide a talented team while remaining closely involved in architecture, design, and delivery. You'll play a key role in driving engineering standards, mentoring developers, and helping the team tackle complex technical challenges across a modern Python-based platform.
Collaborating with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders, you'll influence technical direction, lead the delivery of new capabilities, and contribute to the evolution of a platform that supports critical financial services. The environment is collaborative, fast-moving, and well suited to engineers who enjoy balancing strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
- Guide a talented team of developers.
- Remain closely involved in architecture, design, and delivery.
- Drive engineering standards.
- Mentor developers.
- Help the team tackle complex technical challenges.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
- Influence technical direction.
- Lead the delivery of new capabilities.
- Contribute to the evolution of a platform supporting critical financial services.
About You
- Experienced Python Developer with a strong knowledge of software engineering best practices and full SDLC experience.
- Team leadership experience, happy to mentor and develop others as well as provide 1-2-1s and performance reviews.
- Good knowledge of cloud-based services (GCP preferred, but AWS or Azure experience is fine).
- Experience of building APIs, ideally FastAPI experience.
- Good knowledge of CI/CD, testing, and deployment.
- Thorough understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as OOP, Data Structures, Design Patterns, Algorithms.
- Collaborative and pragmatic with great communication skills.
- Degree educated in a STEM discipline, having achieved a 2.1 or above.

Location / WFH
You'll join colleagues in the Central London office with flexibility to work from home twice a week in a hybrid model.
