About The Role
The Lead Python Engineer position at CGI offers an exciting opportunity for experienced software professionals to lead and contribute to cutting-edge projects within the Space, Defence, and Intelligence sectors. As part of our innovative team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex software solutions that address some of the most challenging problems faced by government agencies. Your role will involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create scalable, secure, and high-performance systems utilizing modern development practices such as continuous integration and continuous deployment. We seek a proactive and creative individual who can think outside the box to overcome technical hurdles and drive project success. - At least 7 years of experience utilizing Python for object-oriented programming and functional programming paradigms.
- Proven experience in leading software development teams and mentoring junior developers to foster growth and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Strong background in designing and executing unit, integration, and end-to-end testing with a focus on quality assurance.
- Experience in creating comprehensive design documents and technical documentation to support development and maintenance activities.
- Hands-on experience working with data processing pipelines and managing large-scale data workflows.
- Working knowledge of DevOps practices and familiarity with cloud platforms and virtualization technologies.
- A passion for learning emerging technologies, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for data visualization and analysis.
- Containerization experience using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Knowledge of security protocols such as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Transport Layer Security (TLS).
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and maintaining robust Python-based applications tailored for secure government environments.
- Leading and mentoring development teams to ensure adherence to best practices and high-quality standards.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Implementing and managing data processing pipelines to handle complex data workflows efficiently.
- Ensuring the security and compliance of systems by integrating security protocols and best practices.
- Participating in code reviews, testing, and documentation to promote maintainability and scalability.
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement through innovation, experimentation, and feedback.
- Working within Agile methodologies to deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate relevant innovations into projects.
