Lead QC Inspector for Offshore Wind Project
Job Overview
Our client is seeking a Lead QC Inspector for a fabrication yard involved in an offshore wind project.
Location: Newcastle
Start Date: Beginning of November 2026
Duration: 6-month assignment (renewable until possible 2030)
Schedule: Resident Role, Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
Job Requirements
- Expert-level profile (10–15 years of experience)
- High level of English proficiency (written and spoken)
- Significant experience in on-site quality inspection (shipyard/fabrication yard) is mandatory; offshore industry experience preferred
- Specialized qualifications in welding, structural work, and non-destructive testing (NDT)
- Experience with EPCI contracts is an asset
- Experience managing a small team of inspectors at a fabrication yard
Key Responsibilities
The QC Lead Inspector ensures that the quality management system implemented by the Fabrication Subcontractor is executed in accordance with applicable Contract requirements, specifications, Master ITP, and ITPs.

The QC Lead Inspector shall adhere to all quality and surveillance requirements detailed in the dedicated Quality Assurance Plan and ensure their good implementation. This generally includes:

- Review of the EPCI Contractor’s Project Quality Plan, Inspection and Test Plans, associated procedures, and any other documentation
- Definition and implementation of inspection and surveillance strategy
You will coordinate all sites QC Inspectors (Welding, Mechanical, Painting, Electrical, Corrosion, Instrumentation, etc).
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable quality performance and delivery in several representative project assignments (10 – 15 Years)
- Experience in similar inspection for at least 10 years
- Experience/skill in Mechanical, Welding field
- For welding Inspection activities, a CSWIP 3.2 Welding Inspector or IWI-C (Comprehensive) or equivalent is requested
- High degree of competence to ensure Quality mission targets and goals are delivered to the Project Quality Managers targets
- Quality professional with proven experience in Quality Management Performance in Operator project delivery roles
- Extensive experience and understanding of Quality Management delivery by EPC Contractor organisations
- High degree of Quality Assurance and Quality Control attributes in a client capacity
- Mastery of Customer-Contractor relationship, ability to influence Contractor to ensure compliant outcomes
- Knowledge in the application of third party and certification body verification activities in a project environment
- Knowledge of breadth and depth of project Quality activities appropriate to a large-scale construction project (OSS)
- Experience in Jacket fabrication
