Lead Quality Excellence Across a Complex Supply Chain

We are seeking an experienced Lead Quality Engineer to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract based in Bristol. This role will play a key part in supporting project delivery, driving supplier quality performance, strengthening quality processes, and developing capability across the wider Quality Engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with strong supplier quality, auditing, and continuous improvement experience who enjoys influencing stakeholders, solving complex quality challenges, and driving operational excellence.

About the Role

As Lead Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring suppliers consistently meet quality requirements and deliver products defect-free in line with contractual obligations and industry standards.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you will lead quality initiatives, conduct investigations, implement corrective actions, and champion quality best practices across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of quality policies, processes, and documentation.
  • Drive compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and best practice quality management principles.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify supply chain risks and proactively implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Manage supplier non-conformances and ensure effective resolution through robust root cause analysis.
  • Assess subcontractor capability and supplier performance against defined quality requirements.
  • Develop, monitor, and improve supplier quality KPIs, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct supplier audits and quality assessments.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and training to suppliers and internal teams on quality requirements and quality management systems.
  • Support project teams in delivering NCRs, CARs, audits, and quality processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead the development and publication of quality procedures, policies, and ways of working.
  • Mentor and support Quality Engineers, helping to build capability and improve team performance.
  • Support management reporting, quality investigations, and process improvement initiatives.

You will have:

  • Experience in a Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, or Quality Assurance role.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and managing supplier quality performance.
  • Proven expertise in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing non-conformances, quality investigations, and supplier development activities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results to tight deadlines.
  • A proactive, resilient, and improvement-focused mindset.
