The Role
Lead on the creation of target-player video content by critically analysing technical and physical data, alongside subjective scouting reports, to help prioritise players who complement Wrexham AFC’s playing style and performance objectives. The role will involve analysing, coding and organising video footage against defined footballing traits, before presenting clear and evidence-based insights to the Sporting Director, Manager and Head of Recruitment. Over time, the postholder will lead and manage a team of video analysts, ensuring the team remains aligned with the Recruitment Department’s KPIs and specific player targets.
Main Responsibilities:
- Operate in line with the Club’s agreed recruitment framework, player profile, and methodology.
- Oversee quality control across all produced reports and player video presentations.
- Provide evidence-based opinions and recommendations on how prospective players may fit the Club’s short-, medium- and long-term requirements.
- Use Sportscode and telestration software to highlight relevant Club profile traits within prospective targets and organise outputs appropriately.
- Attend and actively contribute to Recruitment meetings.
- Contribute to the creation of target player cards and dossiers when required.
- Manage analyst workflows and timelines, ensuring expectations are clearly communicated to the Head of Recruitment.
- Encourage and identify opportunities for the continued growth and development of the Video Analyst team.
- Analyse assigned prospective target players across a range of matches, primarily through video, covering different levels and markets globally.
- Identify new prospective target players using available data and ensure they are placed within the department’s dynamic workflow.
- Upload reports and video presentations to the relevant digital platforms.
- Attend live fixtures as required to support the recruitment process.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.

You'll have:
- Strong football knowledge, with an understanding of game models, playing styles, player profiling and the technical, tactical, physical and physiological attributes that underpin performance.
- Previous experience working within an elite football environment, preferably in an analysis, scouting or recruitment-focused role.
- Ability to interpret video, data and scouting information to form clear, evidence-based recommendations on prospective recruitment targets.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to assess potential future assets and communicate findings clearly to recruitment and management teams.
- Confident user of key industry platforms and analysis software, including Wyscout, Hudl, Sportscode and Studio.
- High-quality video editing and presentation skills, with experience using tools such as Sportscode, Studio, iMovie, Hudl, PowerPoint and Keynote.
- Good understanding of how data insight can support and enhance recruitment decision-making.
- Able to work within a clear departmental workflow, maintaining discipline, structure and consistency across all outputs.
- Strong communicator with the interpersonal skills required to simplify complex information and contribute positively to team cohesion.
- Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider recruitment team.
- Calm, adaptable and professional when responding to changing priorities and time-sensitive deadlines.
- Able to solve problems efficiently and in alignment with the wider needs of the department.
- Demonstrates discretion, sound judgement and a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality in a recruitment environment.
- Curious and growth-minded, with the confidence to challenge, question and contribute ideas in a respectful and constructive manner.
- Computer literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Apple software and a willingness to adapt to emerging technologies.

- Undergraduate degree in a sport-related discipline.
