Lead Security Architect - AI & Data

Location: London, Staines or Salford Quays
Type: Permanent - Hybrid – Full time

We make health happen

At Bupa, our purpose is helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. As a healthcare provider and insurer, we support millions of people through every stage of life.

AI is transforming healthcare. It creates exciting opportunities to improve experiences, support colleagues, and enhance services for customers. As our Lead AI & Data Security Architect, you'll play a critical role in making sure we embrace these technologies safely and responsibly.

This is a unique opportunity to shape how AI is used across a global healthcare organisation. You'll define security standards, guide responsible AI adoption, and help protect sensitive personal and clinical data. Working with senior leaders, architects, engineers, and clinical stakeholders, you'll balance innovation with strong security practices to help us deliver better health outcomes while maintaining trust.

If you're passionate about AI, security architecture, and responsible innovation, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

As our Lead AI & Data Security Architect, you'll:

  • Define secure AI adoption patterns and security standards across Bupa.
  • Lead threat modelling and security reviews for AI-enabled solutions, including large language models (LLMs), generative AI tools, and autonomous agents.
  • Develop governance frameworks, security controls, and assurance processes that support safe AI adoption.
  • Set security requirements for AI platforms, APIs, integrations, and cloud-based AI services.
  • Identify and help manage risks associated with unauthorized or unsanctioned AI usage.
  • Provide expert guidance on AI security, architecture decisions, and emerging threats.
  • Partner with technology, data, legal, clinical, and risk teams to embed security into AI initiatives.
  • Present security recommendations and risk assessments to senior stakeholders and executive audiences.
  • Assess AI suppliers and third-party solutions from a security and data protection perspective.
  • Contribute to security standards, reference architectures, and continuous improvement activities across the wider technology function.
  • Support awareness, education, and a strong security culture around responsible AI use.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
