The Role
As a Lead Security Architect - Networks, you will define, govern, and drive the network security architecture strategy across Operational Technology (OT) environments. Working closely with Network Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, and business stakeholders, you will ensure network solutions are secure by design, resilient, scalable, and aligned with organisational and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in shaping the future network security landscape while supporting digital transformation journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Architecture & Strategy:
- Define and execute the network security architecture strategy and roadmap in alignment with organisational cyber security objectives.
- Lead the design and adoption of secure network architectures across enterprise, cloud, hybrid, and Operational Technology environments.
- Develop and maintain network security blueprints, standards, patterns, and reference architectures.
- Ensure architecture designs meet security, resilience, scalability, performance, and operational requirements.
- Drive the adoption of Zero Trust principles through network segmentation, security zoning, and modern access control models.
Architecture Governance & Risk Management:
- Conduct threat modelling, risk assessments, and security reviews for network services and strategic transformation programmes.
- Establish governance frameworks, security policies, standards, and operating models for current and future network environments.
- Ensure security requirements are embedded within enterprise architecture and solution design processes.
- Support audit, compliance, and risk management activities across network infrastructure and security initiatives.
- Maintain alignment with industry standards, security frameworks, and regulatory requirements.

Network Security Design & Technical Leadership:
- Provide architectural leadership across network security technologies, including:
- Firewalls, VPNs, Network Access Control (NAC)
- Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- SIEM Platforms
- Wireless Security Solutions
- Cloud Networking Technologies
- Collaborate with Network Architects and Engineering teams to embed security controls into existing and future network designs.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and security innovations to strengthen the organisation's security posture.
- Support procurement and vendor assessments by evaluating security capabilities and associated risks.
Operational Alignment & Leadership:
- Ensure network security designs are operationally viable, supportable, and aligned with business and operational requirements.
- Support the successful implementation and transition of approved solutions into operational environments.
- Lead and mentor security professionals, fostering a culture of security excellence and continuous improvement.
- Promote security best practices across architecture, engineering, and operational teams.

Your Profile
Essential Skills / Knowledge / Experience
- Extensive experience in Network Security Architecture or a similar cyber security leadership role within a large and complex enterprise environment.
- Strong expertise in enterprise network architecture across both corporate and Operational Technology (OT) environments.
- Proven experience designing secure WAN, LAN, cloud, and hybrid network solutions.
- Extensive knowledge of network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, NAC, IDS/IPS, DLP, SIEM platforms, and wireless security.
- Experience applying recognised security frameworks and standards, including:
- NIST; ISO 27001; OWASP; SANS Critical Security Controls; Cyber Essentials.
- Strong understanding of cyber security risk management and threat modelling methodologies.
- Experience implementing architecture methodologies such as TOGAF and/or SABSA.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-focused outcomes.
- Strong understanding of Operational Technology security and the challenges associated with securing industrial environments.
Desirable Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
- CISSP or equivalent information security certification.
- Network certifications such as CCNP or CCIE.
- Security vendor certifications including PCNSE, NSE7, CCSA, or JNCIS.
- Experience within manufacturing, automotive, or industrial sectors.
- OT security experience, including knowledge of IEC/ISA 62443 standards.
- Understanding of IoT, Connected Vehicle, and Smart Manufacturing technologies.
- Familiarity with governance and service management frameworks such as COBIT and ITIL.
