Lead Security Operations Engineer | Outside IR35 Contract
I’m working with a high-growth FinTech looking for an experienced Lead Security Operations Engineer to come in on an urgent Outside IR35 contract basis.
This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role, with an immediate focus on Cloudflare, WAF and advanced traffic protection, alongside broader work to strengthen detection and response capabilities.
Longer term, you’ll help build out the wider SecOps capability, including:
- SIEM and detection engineering, with Splunk currently in place
- MITRE ATT&CK mapping and detection coverage
- Incident response, investigation and root-cause analysis
- Security automation and engineering across AWS
- Improving the feedback loop between security incidents and product/engineering
- Alerting around identity and suspicious activity across tools such as Okta / Google Workspace

What We're looking for in a Lead Security Operations Engineer:
- Deep, hands-on Cloudflare and WAF experience
- Strong AWS / cloud security engineering experience
- Proven SIEM and detection engineering experience
- Genuine engineering capability: someone who builds, automates and fixes rather than simply operating an existing platform
- Strong incident response and investigation experience
- SOC / MSSP experience would be useful
- Google Workspace / Okta familiarity would be useful
- Fintech, scale-up or pre-IPO experience would be a bonus
