Lead SOC Architect

Location: Guildford / Frimley – Hybrid
Salary: Up to £110,000 + package
Clearance: Minimum SC, ideally DV

About the Role

A leading organisation operating at the forefront of defence, cyber and national security, delivering complex technology and security solutions across some of the UK’s most demanding environments.

You’ll join a specialist team working closely with government and defence customers, helping to design and deliver secure, resilient and scalable Security Operations Centre (SOC) solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the architecture of SOC solutions for complex customer environments
  • Engaging with senior stakeholders to understand security, operational and accreditation requirements
  • Developing SOC concepts, CONOPS, high-level designs, low-level designs and deployment designs
  • Designing and integrating security technologies including SIEM, SOAR, EDR, Vulnerability Management and Threat Intelligence
  • Assessing existing SOC capabilities and identifying opportunities to improve security maturity
  • Designing secure and resilient on-premise and cloud architectures
  • Supporting the selection and design of security tooling and technologies
  • Applying security principles including least privilege, encryption and defence-in-depth
  • Conducting risk assessments and supporting vulnerability management activities
  • Researching and evaluating new technologies and solutions where requirements are novel or complex

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced SOC Architect / Security Architect with a strong technical background and the ability to operate confidently with both technical teams and senior customers.

  • Strong experience architecting Security Operations Centre solutions
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying at least two of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, Vulnerability Management or Threat Intelligence technologies
  • Strong understanding of SOC operating models, people, processes and technology
  • Experience with both on-premise and cloud security architectures
  • A strong understanding of common cyber threats and appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Experience with risk assessment and vulnerability management
  • Knowledge of enterprise ICT services and secure infrastructure
  • Experience working with Government, Defence or other highly regulated environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience
  • Familiarity with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman, alongside architecture modelling
  • The ability to translate complex requirements into scalable, resilient and secure architectures
