Lead Software Development Engineer - Developer Experience
Job Title: Lead Software Engineer - Developer Experience
Location: Nottingham - Hybrid
Working Pattern: 3 days in-office (Tuesday-Thursday) and 2 days remote.

You and the Role
In this role, you aren't just writing code or managing infrastructure; you are a force-multiplier for our engineering teams. You will sit at the intersection of software engineering and community advocacy, gathering feedback from our UK Tech organisation and sharing good engineering practices across the business. You’ll be joining a passionate and diverse team on a mission to reduce engineering frustration and accelerate software delivery.
Please apply if you are keen to work with the following technology stack. You do not need to be an expert in all of these areas; we are primarily looking for excellent problem solvers with a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Java, TypeScript or Python using strong programming skills in one or more languages to deliver core engineering features.
- AWS or alternative cloud platforms, to enhance our deployment and validation mechanisms.
- CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code, continuing the support, maintenance, and development of our core systems.
And meet most of the following:
- You are a great communicator who operates as a Developer Advocate, willing to get involved, talk to our customers, share ideas, teach, and lead amongst peers.
- You enjoy acting as a technical leader in the team, driving the delivery of complex and ambiguous projects.
- You want to build relationships and influence platform-owning teams to support prioritisation and inner-sourcing opportunities with US teams.
- You really care about making a difference to each and every developer’s experience, operating beyond the IDE to find the right solutions to problems.
- You bring an analytical mindset with a clear focus on delivering value for both the organisation and our customers, and you are a stickler for efficiency and effectiveness.
- You enjoy hybrid working, with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in our bright offices.

Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office.
We embrace a hybrid approach to work. You'll spend three days a week in the office (Tuesday-Thursday), with Monday and Friday being dedicated work-from-home days.
