Lead Software Engineer

Are you an experienced Software Engineer who enjoys building high-quality digital products while leading and mentoring engineering teams?

We're working with a leading global technology consultancy that delivers innovative software solutions across both public and private sectors. They're looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join a growing engineering practice working on large-scale, modern software projects that make a real impact.


The Role

You'll play a key role in designing, developing and delivering cloud-native applications while providing technical leadership to engineering teams. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll combine strong software engineering expertise with mentoring, coaching and driving engineering best practice.

Projects span a variety of industries, giving you exposure to new technologies, modern architectures and complex business challenges.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the design and development of modern software solutions
  • Writing high-quality, maintainable and secure code
  • Mentoring and developing engineers within your team
  • Driving engineering best practices across performance, security, accessibility and maintainability
  • Collaborating closely with clients and cross-functional teams to deliver successful outcomes
  • Contributing to technical strategy, architecture and engineering communities

What They're Looking For

Experience in several of the following:

  • Strong commercial experience with one or more of:
    • Java
    • C#
    • Python
    • Go
    • TypeScript
  • Frontend experience with frameworks such as:
    • React
    • Angular
    • Vue
    • Svelte
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK or Pulumi)
  • CI/CD tooling including GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI or ArgoCD
  • Building secure, performant and scalable applications
  • Previous experience leading engineering teams and mentoring developers

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the projects, successful applicants must be eligible for BPSS and SC Security Clearance, requiring 5 years of continuous UK address history at the point of application.
