Lead Software Engineer | Customer Identity Solutions
Salary | Up to £110,000
Hybrid | 2 days a week | London, UK
A large international consumer organisation with a diverse portfolio of customer-facing brands is undergoing a digital transformation to enhance the end-to-end customer experience. They're hiring a hands-on Technical Lead to own the technical direction of customer identity management as the business continues expanding across the globe.
This is an engineering lead role, you'll stay close to the code, understand the architecture in depth, and be credible enough to challenge how things are being built.
Role Overview
Day one, you'll lead and manage third-party delivery partners who do the majority of the hands-on build work — this isn't about building an in-house team from scratch initially. Over time, the company retains technical ownership and guardianship of the codebase while vendors continue as the implementation arm.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
