Lead Software Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office)
Salary: Up to £82,000

We're looking for a Lead Software Engineer to combine hands-on technical leadership with software engineering excellence, helping to build modern cloud-native applications and mentor high-performing engineering teams.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and mentor a team of Software and QA Engineers across multiple projects.
- Design, develop, and deliver scalable enterprise applications using modern engineering practices.
- Build cloud-first solutions leveraging Azure and containerised technologies.
- Develop robust back-end services using C#/.NET and modern front-end applications with React, TypeScript or similar frameworks.
- Drive DevSecOps best practices, continuous delivery, and secure software development.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
- Explore and implement emerging technologies including AI-enabled solutions and modern software architectures.

What We're Looking For
- 5+ years' commercial experience with C#,.NET, Java, or similar object-oriented technologies.
- Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams while remaining technically involved.
- Expertise in software architecture, design patterns, APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
- Experience building and deploying applications in cloud environments, ideally Azure.
- Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and application security practices.
- Experience building customer-facing web applications and working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Experience
- Azure DevOps, GitHub, or Jenkins.
- React, Angular, Blazor, or other modern UI frameworks.
- Messaging technologies such as Kafka, Service Bus, or MQ.
- Experience with AI technologies, workflow automation, or data analytics platforms.
