Role Description
The Lead Software Engineer will guide the technical direction of BabuSpace’s marketplace platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across backend services. This is a part-time, hybrid role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The role will collaborate closely with product and operations teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, manage technical debt, and drive continuous improvement in performance and user experience. The Lead Software Engineer will also play a key role in technical decision-making, implementation of APIs and integrations, and maintaining development standards and documentation.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
- Proficiency in Back-End Web Development, with experience building scalable, secure web services and APIs.
- Extensive Software Development experience, including end-to-end delivery of production applications.
- Advanced Programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go).
- Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
- Experience leading engineering teams, mentoring developers, and establishing coding standards.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and modern version control workflows.
- Knowledge of security, performance optimization, and reliability best practices for online marketplaces or similar products.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, and make pragmatic technical decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
