Lead Software Engineer– PRIIP Cloud
We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer– PRIIP Cloud to lead the technical design, development, operation, and evolution of our strategic cloud-based PRIIP documentation and reporting platform.
This is a hands-on full-stack technical leadership role with responsibility for the platform end-to-end, including user interfaces, APIs, backend services, integrations, data processing, cloud infrastructure, security, observability, and operational support.
The role combines software engineering, solution architecture, operational ownership, and team leadership. You will work closely with Product, Operations, Compliance, and Architecture teams to ensure the platform remains secure, scalable, resilient, and compliant within a highly regulated financial services environment.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team comprising software engineers and subject matter experts. Many team members possess significant domain expertise in structured products, derivatives, equities, regulatory reporting, and PRIIPs regulation, requiring close collaboration between technical and business specialists to deliver successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Own the technical architecture and end-to-end delivery of the PRIIP Cloud platform.
- Define and maintain architectural standards, design patterns, engineering principles, and platform roadmaps.
- Lead technical decision-making across frontend applications, backend services, APIs, integrations, data models, and cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, observable, and maintainable.
- Drive continuous improvement of engineering practices, software quality, and developer productivity.
Full Stack Engineering
- Contribute hands-on across all layers of the platform including frontend, backend services, APIs, integrations, databases, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Design and build user-facing capabilities, platform services, and operational tooling.
- Lead development of reusable components, shared services, and common platform capabilities.
- Drive automated testing, CI/CD adoption, infrastructure-as-code, and engineering automation.
- Ensure solutions meet performance, availability, reliability, and security expectations.

Operational Ownership
- Own the operation and reliability of the PRIIP Cloud platform in production.
- Support the team's responsibility for production incidents, customer issues, operational troubleshooting, and service restoration activities.
- Drive monitoring, observability, alerting, incident management, capacity planning, and service improvement initiatives.
- Ensure operational processes, runbooks, support procedures, and resilience capabilities are maintained and continuously improved.
- Work closely with Operations and Customer Support teams to ensure high service availability and customer satisfaction.
Product & Domain Collaboration
- Partner with Product Owners, Compliance SMEs, Quantitative Analysts, and regulatory specialists to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into technical solutions.
- Work alongside team members with deep expertise in structured products, derivatives, equities, and PRIIPs regulations.
- Ensure technical solutions accurately reflect financial product behaviour, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
- Provide technical leadership whilst leveraging specialist business knowledge from subject matter experts across the team.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and coach engineers across the team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, engineering excellence, and continuous learning.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and career development.
- Encourage adoption of modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted software development and engineering automation.
Required Experience
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with significant full-stack development experience.
- Previous experience operating as a Lead Developer, Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, or similar role.
- Proven experience owning production systems and supporting live business-critical platforms.
- Strong experience designing and building cloud-native distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience across frontend and backend technologies.
- Strong expertise in technologies such as:
- TypeScript / Node.js
- React or modern web frameworks
- Java / Kotlin (desirable)
- REST APIs and event-driven architectures
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience working in financial services or other highly regulated environments.
- Strong stakeholder management, mentoring, and leadership capabilities.

Desirable Experience
- Experience working with structured products, equity-linked products, OTC derivatives, regulatory documentation, PRIIPs, or financial reporting platforms.
- Experience working alongside quantitative analysts, product specialists, and regulatory subject matter experts.
- Experience supporting SaaS platforms with demanding operational and customer support requirements.
- Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, and Keycloak.
- Experience with Datadog, Grafana, Elastic, OpenTelemetry, or similar observability tooling.
- Experience implementing AI-assisted software development practices.
